The company started out in Colorado Springs, Colorado, as a small enterprise in 1992. Since then it has flourished into a thriving consumer products company, recognized for its highly-regarded PowerLine® range of power supply and conversion products. The key to its achievement has been its unwavering commitment to listening to the needs of American consumers and developing top-quality products.
For nearly 30 years, the company has been known as an innovator in power conversion products for American and Global consumers alike, selling more than 75 million PowerLine power accessories across North America.
In the early days, Original Power succeeded in getting its in-vehicle AC/DC adapters and travel kits into Walmart. In 1999, the company acquired Disston American Gardner’s outdoor tools, which helped Original Power expand its OEM opportunities and retail distribution in Sears, Roebuck and Co. stores nationwide.
By 2000, Original Power had expanded its outdoor power product line and established an OEM business producing several products under the popular Craftsman brand, then owned by Sears. The company also operated private label and licensing programs with some of the world’s largest consumer brands and retailers, selling products under their respective house brands.
Due to the nationwide recognition of the innovative PowerLine brand in households across North America, Original Power was acquired in 2022 by its longtime global manufacturing partner, Group Intellect Power Technology. To further its commitment and dedication to bringing new and innovative power products to consumers worldwide, in 2024 PowerLine joined the Consumer Technology Association as a Core Member.
